Deepika Padukone Opens Up About Battling Depression On Meghan Markle Podcast, ‘It Feels Like This Huge Burden Was Lifted Off Their Shoulders’
Deepika Padukone is a fierce actress who has often spoken about mental health uses and suffering from depression. The actress has even helped people dealing with mental health. She recently spoke on the Meghan Markle podcast about how people perceived her when she opened up about suffering from depression. People thought that she was promoting a pharmaceutical company.

Deepika Padukone joined Meghan Markle on her Archetypes podcast and discussed mental health issues. While speaking to the Duchess of Sussex she said, “It feels like this huge burden was lifted off their shoulders. That finally, someone acknowledged the fact that okay, there is something that is such a thing as mental illness but with everything good that you do they’ll always be sort of that.And so, there were a bunch of people who felt that either I was doing this to promote a movie or they thought that I was being paid by a pharmaceutical company. And there were articles. They thought I was being paid by a pharmaceutical company and you know that I’m now going to start advertising for some sort of medication."




The ‘Gehraiyaan’ actress even mentioned that when she shared her experience of battling depression most people were glad that she opened up about the dark phase of her life. They embraced her for sharing her struggles. She first opened up about depression in 2015.

The ‘Bajirao Mastani’ actress even stated that she is glad that she had that phase in her life as now she has emerged as a strong person. The actress even mentioned that going through ‘life and death’ situation has made her value little things in life like hugging her little sister Anisha or a late-night conversation with her husband Ranveer Singh. She even thinks that life has a bigger purpose than work and money. 

Earlier, the ‘Padmavat’ actress mentioned that her mother spotted her going through depression and helped her reach out to professionals for help. She is also a founder of the mental health organization Live Love Laugh.
